HOPE’s 3rd annual art show, Expressions in Art, will be held on Thursday, February 21st from 1 - 3 pm at the HOPE office (373 Inverness Parkway, Suite 205, Englewood, 80112). The show will be broken into 2 categories: Mathematical Expressions in Art and Personal Expressions in Art.

HOPE's Got Talent!

The HOPE Talent Showcase, HOPE's Got Talent!, is coming up! Next Friday, February 1st at 1pm, HOPE students of all ages will perform in a variety of acts displaying their terrific talents at the Sherman Street Event Center (1770 Sherman St., Denver).
The acts who will perform include (in not particular order):
  1. The Belmar Ladies Ensemble (14 HS girls choir)
  2. Martin and Mario - Roca Fuerte (HS piano/drums)
  3. Juan - Renewal-Thornton (1st grader dance)
  4. Elite 7 - Hillcrest (7 MS boys rapping)

Spring Formal 2013

HOPE will host the 4th Annual Spring Formal dance and dinner for all high school students (grades 9-12) on Saturday, April 13th from 7-11pm. Again this year, the Spring Formal will be held at the Crystal Rose (9755 E Hampden Ave., Denver). The cost is 50 per student and includes a sit-down dinner, dancing with a live DJ, a full casino with dealers, favors and prizes. It's guaranteed to be a fun and memorable night. This year, chaperons will be provided by the HOPE office (although, if you want to chaperon, we would love to have you!).

Basketball Season Underway

Basketball season for HOPE kicked off last week with 90 participants and 8 teams - three times more participation than last year!  We have three competitive boys high school teams, and we have added middle school boys and girls teams.  Below is a list of the upcoming games.  You can also access the HOPE Activities calendar (just search for Hope Sports and Activities in your Google calendar).

Last year, 30 high school boys joined HOPE basketball teams. This year, 90 students have signed up to play basketball. It’s going to be a fun, busy and exciting season!

The game schedules for HOPE’s three competitive basketball teams, playing in the Academy of Urban Learning league, are attached. Additional game schedules for HOPE’s recreational basketball teams are coming after break.

All soccer games on Thursday, October 25th have been canceled due to fall break. Games will resume Thursday, November 1st. An extra week will be added to the season to make up the games. The season will now end Thursday, November 15th.

Please let all student athletes know about the schedule change and check the schedule for updated game times.

Last year, HOPE’s first three high school basketball teams participated in the Academy of Urban Learning’s basketball league. The season was full of exciting games and ended with the memorable Court of Dreams tournament at the Pepsi Center.

It’s time to pick-up a basketball again and prepare for another season culminating with the Court of Dreams on March 1st. Any Learning Center with high school boys interested in playing league basketball should contact Melanie Stone at

Literacy Day

Celebrate reading and writing by bringing literacy to life with characters and costumes!

HOPE is celebrating Literacy Day on Wednesday, October 31st.

Encourage students to dress up as a favorite book character and bring the book to share with classmates and friends. Invite community celebrities to visit your Learning Center – in costume or not, and read aloud to your students.

Calling All Coaches

Do you love sports? Do you love to coach? Do you enjoy mentoring student athletes?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are qualified to coach at HOPE. We are looking for volleyball, soccer and basketball coaches. Coaching is a rewarding volunteer position. Practices and games usually take 2-3 nights a week max. The Colorado Pumpkin Patch

The Colorado Pumpkin Patch invites students to visit this season. Teachers are free and school group rates are $6 per child, which includes a pumpkin for each child.
